Jesus Is A Life Changer

Galatians 2:20b: . . . Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

The phrase the life I which I now live should alert us to the fact that he lived a different kind of life before he lived by faith. The difference between living by faith and living without it is like the difference between night and day. The Bible records the radically changed life of the Apostle Paul from a persecutor of Christians to a great evangelist and missionary and the human author of much of the New Testament. It also records the radically changed lives of many others. A demoniac became a servant of God. A promiscuous woman became a wonderful witness. A prostitute became a dedicated believer. A hated tax collector became the author of the book of Matthew. Zacchaeus was a crook who became generous to others.

Some have given me reasons to believe that they tried to receive a Jesus who would not change their life. It does not appear that they had any intention of letting Him change anything. Others genuinely received Jesus and permitted Him to change a few things. Somehow their flesh prevents Him from making more changes.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

A new creature in Christ will live a different life. I am so glad that He changed who I am AND the life I used to live into the life I now live.

Romans 6:4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Once He has changed who we are and how we live it becomes easier to believe all of the wonderful truth about Him. He is God, He always was and always will be, He knows everything, He is everywhere present, He is all powerful, He is our Creator, He forgives our sin, He has power to save and He will raise us from the dead. He alone is who He is and He alone can do these things.
